LMFP Battery by GOTION High Tech Promises 1000km Range and Cost Efficiency
GOTION High Tech, a top EV battery manufacturer, has announced the upcoming production of a groundbreaking lithium-iron-manganese-phosphate (LMFP) battery. This innovative battery offers a remarkable driving range of up to 1000km on a single charge, a feat previously achieved only by costlier nickel-cobalt (NCM) batteries.

Astroinno L600 LMFP
The Astroinno L600 LMFP battery is set to revolutionize the EV industry, providing smaller, more powerful, and cost-effective battery packs. By leveraging the existing LFP chemical formula used by manufacturers like BYD and Tesla and incorporating manganese, the battery achieves a higher energy density within similar packaging dimensions. This enhancement increases the Wh/kg ratio from 190Wh/kg to 240Wh/kg for a single cell.
Gotion High Tech states that the production cost of the LMFP battery pack will be around 5% lower than conventional LFP packs, making it 25% cheaper than comparable NCM batteries.
The Astroinno L600 LMFP battery cell has passed rigorous safety tests, boasting a weight energy density of 240Wh/kg, a volume energy density of 525Wh/L, and a cycle life of 4000 times at room temperature. With a volumetric cell-to-pack ratio of 76%, the system energy density of 190Wh/kg surpasses that of current mass-produced NCM cells.
The longevity of the Astroinno battery is impressive, estimated at up to two million kilometers or around 130 years based on average annual usage. This breakthrough is the result of a decade of in-house LMFP material research by Gotion High Tech.
Innovative Design
Overcoming challenges related to manganese dissolution, low conductivity, and compaction density, Gotion High Tech employed innovative techniques such as coprecipitation doping encapsulation, new granulation technology, and new electrolyte additives.
The Astroinno battery pack features thermal insulation materials, four layers of rapid heat exhausting channels, and has successfully passed various tests, including penetration, overcharge, crush, and short circuit tests.
Production of the Astroinno LMFP battery is expected to start in early 2024, signaling a new era of EV batteries with extended driving ranges, reduced costs, and enhanced performance.
Exciting times ahead! Like all batteries, a long range battery will also reach a point where it can no longer serve as a traction battery, and Infinitev will be ready to take care of it from there on.
