Overview of the DRIVEN Charger Rebate Stream
The DRIVEN program provides $40 million over four years to co-fund the installation of smart EV chargers at automotive dealerships and repairers across Australia, including regional and remote areas.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the rebate, businesses must:
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN).
- Be an entity incorporated in Australia.
- Operate as a licensed motor dealer/trader, a service centre associated with a licensed motor dealer/trader, or an automotive repair business compliant with Australian Standards 5732:2022 (EV operations – maintenance and repair) with at least one staff member suitably qualified to work on EVs.
Rebate Details
Eligible businesses can receive:
- Up to $2,500 per eligible smart EV charger.
- A maximum rebate of $20,000 per eligible site.
- For sites operating both a dealership and a service centre, the cap is $40,000.
Eligible EV Chargers
The rebate applies to smart EV chargers purchased and installed on or after 26 March 2024, including:
- AC plugs with 7 kW charging speed (single phase).
- AC plugs with 11-22 kW charging speed.
- DC plugs with 50 kW or less charging speed.
Application Timeline
- Opening Date: 22 January 2025, 10:00 am AEDT.
- Closing Date: 30 April 2028, 5:00 pm AEST, or until funding is exhausted.
